Quantum Disinfection™ is an electrochemical disinfection technology used in our point-of-use purifiers. Rather than adding chemicals, it works through the media's surface to disrupt micro-organisms as water passes through - no chemicals, no power and no waste water. It's the core of how our 5-in-1 purifier treats the water you drink.
Not all carbon is equal. Granular activated carbon (GAC) is loose carbon that water flows around - it's inexpensive but can channel, clog and offers less consistent contact time. A carbon block is compressed into a solid, giving finer filtration, more consistent contact and better reduction of taste, odour and a range of chemicals.
This is also why GAC is the wrong choice for filling caravan tanks from bore water: it clogs quickly and can't reduce the dissolved minerals in bore water. For tank filling we use a dedicated bore water and sediment pre-filter instead.
Taste and clarity are easy to notice, but the most important thing in drinking water is what you can't see. Micro-organisms are the real safety concern, especially when you're drawing water from rivers, bores or unknown taps on the road. That's why we focus our independent testing on microbiology, working to AS/NZS 4276.7 with NATA-accredited laboratories.
PFAS are a group of long-lasting synthetic chemicals that have become a growing concern in drinking water worldwide. Chloramine is a disinfectant some water authorities use instead of chlorine - it lingers longer in the supply and is harder to remove, and informed buyers are increasingly asking about it even though many filters ignore it.
